TORAH BITS - LEVITICUS AND NUMBERS
#24 Vayikra Leviticus 1:1-6:7(5:26)
Whether it's work, family, friends, or the person at the checkout counter, leave a legacy of blessing and goodness. "Whatever work you do, put yourself into it, as those who are serving not merely other people, but the Lord. Remember that as your reward, you will receive the inheritance from the Lord;" Colossians 3:23-24 CJB. "Set the believers an example in your speech, behavior, love, trust and purity;" 1 Timothy 4:12 CJB. Whatever we do, we can have an impact. We can do it. Shaul said, "I can do all things through him who gives me power;" Philippians 3:13 CJB.
#25 Tzav Leviticus 6:8(1)-8:36
God told Israel what He wanted done in great detail in this portion. We should want to be people who care about the details and keep striving to be completely holy as 2 Corinthians 7:1 says. We should be concerned with the details of life. Yeshua said we should even be concerned with the little things, the little details of living right spiritually. "Someone who is trustworthy in a small matter is also trustworthy in large ones, and someone who is dishonest in a small matter is also dishonest in large ones;" Luke 16:10 CJB.
#26 Shemini Leviticus 9:1-11:47
God is truly amazing. I would have liked to be there to see the fire of God come down from heaven to burn up the sacrifice on the altar. Even in this day and time, God does tremendous works for His people. He surprises us at times; He helps us supernaturally; He gives us evidence of His love and gives us hope.
#27 Tazria - #28 Metzora Leviticus 12:1-15:33
What will we see when we look back on our lives? Will we have something spiritual to look back on and appreciate or will we just have a big headstone? Be strong, stay alert to fight against the devil and don't do what is wrong. Kefa said in 1 Peter 5:8-9 CJB, "Stay sober, stay alert! Your enemy, the Adversary, stalks about like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Stand against him, firm in your trust." Be pure, peaceful, and kind. Trust in God and His ways and bring good into your life through God. Focus on doing what is right. Proverbs 4:23 CJB says, "Above everything else, guard your heart; for it is the source of life's consequences. Guard your heart, focus your thoughts on doing what is right and good.
#29 Acharei Mot #30 Kedoshim Leviticus 16:1- 20:27
Because God is in our life, we can enjoy any moment. I remember someone once telling me that even in difficult situations (He was talking about being around evil people.), God was there with him. That can be a stretch at times, but it is true. God said, "Haven't I ordered you, 'Be strong, be bold'? So don't be afraid or downhearted, because ADONAI your God is with you wherever you go;" Joshua 1:9 CJB. Yeshua said in Matthew 28:20 CJB, "Teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember! I will be with you always, yes, even until the end of the age." That is great news!
#31 Emor Leviticus 21:1-24:25
The Messiah Yeshua came from heaven to give Himself for us to help us follow God's commandments and to make us His kingdom people. Enjoy what God has given you and how the Holy Spirit works in you. He has given gifts to help us and so much more. God heals us, teaches us, and helps us. There is good reason to stay close to God. Stay faithful to God and be strong. Shaul (Paul) encouraged and appealed to the people to live like the God's people; to live like those who were called into God's glorious kingdom. I appeal to you too to stay faithful and strong in Yehovah (God). Pray for God's help, have God's peace in your heart, and trust in God. God wants to help us and can help us in all of life's situations.
#32 Behar - #33 Bechukotai Leviticus 25:1-27:34
God told Israel He would supply their need for over 2 years for Yovel (Jubilee) years. We not only need to rely on our own efforts, but on God and He can help us. Allow God to be at the center of your life and help you. Trust in God and pray to Him. Be an example of trust to others. God can help us. Ask Him to stretch out His hand like the psalmist said in Psalm 144:7. Be willing to take risks for God. It may not be comfortable to take risks, but at times we will experience the power of God. Our bravery can demonstrate the glory of God.
#34 Bamidbar Numbers 1:1-4:20
Trust in God's power and derive strength from your trust in God. He is greater than anything in the world. Allow God to shape us and be part of our lives. He goes before us, will be with us, and will not leave us (Deuteronomy 31:8). Be at peace and resist feelings where you feel overcome or afraid. We are overcomers through Yeshua our Messiah. God can bring relief and joy. Psalm 30:6 CJB says about God, "His favor lasts a lifetime. Tears may linger for the night, but with dawn come cries of joy." Allow God to work in what you do. Rely on God frequently; don't forget to pray. Be consistent in your faith and walk, and trust in God.
#35 Nasso Numbers 4:21- 7:89
We want a real connection to a real God in our lives. We want a genuine trusting life with our God and Messiah. God will do amazing things in our life at times and even save our life. Nothing worldly can do what God can do in the moment. Enjoy your life with God. Don't try to force your joy, but have trusting joy. There are a number of trials we may have to go through. God will be with us in our trials. One of the trials we face comes from those who don't teach the Bible within its original context.
Don't be deceived, stay strong, and be faithful. We once lived the way the world lived, but now we know better and are to do the good works of the Bible. "Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, 'Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people;'" Deuteronomy 4:6 NKJV.
We also need to be empowered by the Holy Spirit through the Messiah Yeshua. God tells us the Holy Spirit will give us power in life that is real and that we can trust God will give us something good. Who would want to live without the thrilling power of God? God will do great works on our behalf. Now is the time to accept what God wants for you.
#36 Beha'alotekha Numbers 8:1-12:16
Laying on of hands was symbolic for God laying on His hands and is used for transference of blessing and healing. God uses things that are symbolic. Some things like laying on of hands are commanded and some rituals only point to God and are not commandments. The Torah procession is a picture of Israel following God in the wilderness and believers in Messiah following the lead of the Holy Spirit.
God does not like people who are disruptive and are complainers, and those who have bad attitudes or speak against God's anointed. In this portion, we see God coming against those types of people. God wants us to hear from him and his prophetic words encourage, comfort, and edify the Bible says. Watch out for people who are fixated on future events so you don't get influenced by them. Instead, trust in God.
Maybe you have some spare time to serve God in some way. God can use that as He wishes and sometimes bring about supernatural events. Stay in fellowship with God; He'll use us. Be balanced and faithful and don't forget to have joy in all you do.
#37 Shelach Numbers 13:1-15:41
Don't just be a survivor, but set your heart on living for God, serving God, and keeping His commandments. Israel was about to stone the man who had led them to freedom and who was helping them to be blessed by God. Don't turn your back on God. Grow and stand faithfully in God's light and look to where you are headed in life. Doing things God's way is for our own good. It is a good thing to apply ourselves well in all we do, but also apply yourself well spiritually. Do not grow weary, keep living for God, serving Him, and keeping His commandments; don't be a quitter.
#38 Korach Numbers 16:1-18:32
We will face situations where we need to take a stand even though it is a difficult time for us. Watch out for negative thinking and fear. We don't want to end up in rebellion like Korach. Be doers of God's commandments and not just hearers. God gave us His scriptures to equip to do what is right and good and the Holy Spirit to help us. Ya'akov said that those who endure are blessed, so stay faithful no matter what happens. Our eternity with an all-powerful God will be amazing so don't be a coward and also stay free from sin. Be at peace because we have a good God who is for us, will be with us, and will lift us up. We can trust God and have victory through Him and the Messiah Yeshua. Be part of God's plan, stay faithful, and be at peace.
#39 Chukat Numbers 19:1-22:1
All that we know and see will come to nothing someday. Those who do what is right and believe in God will be rewarded for all eternity in an amazingly wonderful new kingdom. We can set our minds only just on earthly things and what we can accomplish, but it is nothing compared to what God can do. Why not set our minds on greater things, the work of God and the Holy Spirit? Take time to grow and learn about God; it will help us to be consistent in our spiritual walk.
#40 Balak Numbers 22:2-25:9
When we do what is wrong, we bring evil and bad into the world. Don't be a Balaam who only thought of himself. Be close to God, be near and dear to God, and do right. Fellowship with God and enjoy your relationship with God. Don't let things get you down and give things that bother you to God. Understand where you are headed in life. Are you working at being faithful; are you determined to move forward. Think about how you will accomplish life the way God wants you to. Make sure you are sensible with your goals; don't try to overdo it. You don't have to do everything. There is no compromise though in doing what is right. Stick with it; you can do it.
#41 Pinchas Numbers 25:10-30:1
Pinchas was zealous for God. God blessed his descendants for what he did. Wouldn't we want to receive blessings from God; how about eternal blessings? Eliyahu (Elijah) thought all was lost and went to the mountain of God. When God spoke to Eliyahu, God put him to work. It wasn't over after all. Pinchas put himself into doing what was right and seeking the things of God.
As believers in the true God, we are to have a different viewpoint about life. Don't let your life be totally wrapped up in projects, hobbies, making money, and worldly things. Sometimes, the more we have the more distractions we have in life. Some of us just make up distractions instead of doing the important spiritual things of life. Give, share your time, think of little ways you can make a difference, and watch out for all the worldly desires that come our way.
Keeping ourselves busy with worldly things can keep us from engaging with God and the eternal verities of life. Work at spending more time doing spiritual things. Why not make a commitment to do something, even if it is just 15 minutes more or 1 hour more a week? Set the time aside. Surely, we can do that. There is a lot we can do, but don't get stressed out on worldly things; instead work at freeing up time for God.
#42 Mattot Numbers 30:2-32:42
Stay the path and God will refresh you and give you joy. Be settled in the truths of the scriptures and keep God's commandments. Be energized and on fire for God and the work of the Holy Spirit. Be eager for the things of God and don't let that fire go out. Make that decision to be a servant of God. Even in difficult circumstances God can help you and come through for you. Run to God and trust in His strength.
#43 Masei Numbers 33:1-36:13
Make an effort to seek God and spiritual things. We have the responsibility to work out our lives and stay at peace. Don't test God with negative thinking. While Israel was in the desert their negative thinking tested God. We are supposed to shine as lights so we need to bring down the barriers in life to our peace. Trust in God; God is all wise and we are not. Have a thankful attitude and don't let your thoughts overcome you. Instead, trust God the way we are supposed to.
#42-#43 Mattot-Massei Numbers 30:2-36:13
God was real and present with Israel while they were in the desert before they entered Canaan. He is a real and present powerful God who sustains all of His creation and works on behalf of His people every day. God reaches out to mankind to help us find Him and rescue us so we can demonstrate the goodness of God. We are to be a people of light and understanding through an all-knowing and good God.
